5 Things You Are Doing That Are Stopping Your Greatness
Settling is defined as – to sit and rest in a comfortable position. Being comfortable is the number one thing that will stop a person from reaching their full potential. When a person is comfortable, meaning they are staying alive and doing okay where they are now. This causes a person to stay in that position because it isn’t posing a threat against their livelihood. Being comfortable doesn’t cause hunger or homelessness, but it does interfere with happiness. Settling for less could be a threat to your happiness. If you know you have dreams and want to be a better version of yourself – then it’s time to get uncomfortable and stop settling.
Have you ever thought about how much time is wasted sitting in front of the TV? Well the average American spends 5 hours watching TV per day. Think about it, when you watch shows on a certain night (or every day/night) the length of one show is 30 minutes to an hour at most. If you watch a few shows it’s easy to reach that 5 hours. Which could be spent doing something that will help you get one step closer to where you want to be in your life.
The current amount of time people spend on social media tops the essentials (eating, sleeping and grooming). PEOPLE SCROLL more than they wash!! Social media is something I call a blessing and a curse. It is beneficial by connecting you with others, make people money and also learn the latest gossip through social media. But there is also a curse to it that most people do unconsciously, comparing yourself to what you see on social media. Instagram, Snapchat & everything else has a on and off button. Comparing your whole life to a few seconds of someone else’s life is unhealthy and unrealistic. If you ever find yourself doing this remember that people aren’t going to post the bad things about themselves only the good things that they WANT people to see. Everyone has things that they do not announce. So, taking illusions which happen to look like highest points of a person’s life and comparing them to your whole life isn’t beneficial. Never compare yourself to anyone, if anything use it for motivational use ONLY.
4.Listening to People
Have you ever had an idea and a person told you that you could not do it, and that you were crazy for even thinking that wat? But ironically this person has never done what they are “advising” you not to do. Sometimes people put their fears onto other people. They will say you can’t do something simply because they are scared to do it or they think you can actually do it. If you listen to others you will never be yourself, let alone the best version of yourself. Follow the little voice in your head, your positive support systems and that feeling in your gut – those are all you need to hear.
How many times have you told yourself – tomorrow or later. A slower start just means a slower finish, try not put important things off to do one of the things listed above. When you procrastinate, it causes guilt and more excuses of why it’s “okay” when it’s really not, don’t stress yourself out just do it. There is no time like the present, don’t make excuses – start now and you will finish earlier and be proud of your work.
Everyday things could get in the way of your success without you noticing it. Get up and start, if you’ve already started – dust yourself off and keep going.
“What you want exists. Don’t settle until you get it”
